Correctional Officer

About This Role

The Correctional Officer at TCKC maintains security in a correctional facility, supervises offender movements, and intervenes during emergencies to ensure safety and order. This role is crucial for promoting rehabilitation and maintaining a secure environment for offenders.

Responsibilities

• Maintain security in buildings and posts of an adult correctional facility
• Intervene during emergencies or altercations and gain physical control of offenders
• Supervise movement of offenders inside and outside the correctional facility
• Conduct periodic counts of offenders and search for contraband
• Escort and transport offenders to predetermined locations
• Conduct inspections for health and safety hazards
• Prepare and submit reports on offender violations, unusual behaviors, and security breaches
• Discuss minor adjustment problems with offenders and refer serious issues to proper staff
• Promote rehabilitation by attempting to modify offender's social attitudes and encouraging worthwhile activities

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Ability to pass a background investigation administered by the Missouri Department of Corrections
