Corporate Vice President - Technical Enterprise Architect

About This Role

This strategic role involves designing, implementing, and overseeing enterprise-wide technology solutions for the insurance industry, focusing on aligning IT strategies with business objectives. The architect will leverage expertise in LeanIX, AWS, and cloud services to drive digital transformation and optimize technology landscapes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain comprehensive enterprise architecture frameworks using LeanIX to map business processes, applications, and technology infrastructure specific to the insurance sector
• Lead the design, deployment, and optimization of cloud-based solutions across NYL hybrid model (Colo and AWS), ensuring compliance, data security, and scalability
• Create and maintain strategic IT roadmaps that support business goals, incorporating LeanIX for application portfolio management and assessing emerging technology
• Partner with business leaders, product owners, and IT teams to translate insurance business needs into technical solutions, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards
• Assess and optimize the existing technology stack, identifying opportunities to leverage AWS services and cloud-native architectures to enhance performance and reduce costs
• Establish governance frameworks for architecture standards management, ensuring compliance with insurance industry regulations and best practices for data privacy and security
• Drive digital transformation initiatives by integrating emerging technologies (e.g., AI, machine learning) into the insurance ecosystem, leveraging AWS tools and services
• Utilize LeanIX to document, analyze, and optimize the enterprise architecture, providing visibility into business/technology roadmaps, application dependencies, technology lifecycles, and IT costs
• Identify and mitigate risks related to technology implementation, ensuring robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans tailored to insurance operations
• Guide and mentor junior architects and support NYL Lead and Domain architecture community and technical teams

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in enterprise architecture
• 3+ years of experience in the insurance industry
• Proven expertise in LeanIX for enterprise architecture management (or equivalent)
• Extensive experience designing and implementing solutions on AWS
• Hands-on experience with digital transformation and cloud migration strategies
• Deep knowledge of AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, ECS, EKS) and cloud-native architectures
• Proficiency in Lucid Chart and LeanIX (or similar) for modeling enterprise architectures and managing IT landscapes
• Strong understanding of microservices, APIs, Disaster Recovery, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines
• Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards relevant to the insurance industry
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Leadership and collaboration skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree or relevant certifications preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, with at least 3 years in the insurance industry.

• Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect)
• Familiarity with insurance-specific technologies (policy administration systems, claims management platforms, actuarial tools)
• Ability to leverage Generative AI to enhance and inform deliverables
