Coordinator Patient Care - Communications

About This Role

The Communications Operator promotes and maintains a courteous, well-organized, and efficient communications center. This role involves facilitating patient transfers, relaying calls using a PBX switchboard, and monitoring alarms for CHRISTUS Health.

Responsibilities

• Promptly answer all calls using appropriate greeting, announcement of name, proper use of fact-finding questions, and route to correct destination
• Operate and navigate Avaya, Epic, and CHRISTUS Health software vendors efficiently
• Communicate with Administration, area hospitals, and EMS agencies regarding diversion procedures
• Monitor and answer Transfer Center radio communications as needed
• Communicate with referring hospitals in a timely fashion and follow up promptly
• Arrange transports to facilities with proper paperwork
• Process "Code Calls" and Crisis Alerts properly and efficiently
• Display working knowledge of Simplex/Fire Alarm Panel
• Accurately complete all clerical work associated with contacts
• Follow attendance, tardiness, attire, safety, and policy procedures

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Pleasant voice and keen sense of hearing
• Strong guest relation skills
• Ability to handle fast work pace with constant interruptions
• Available to work any shift and any day of the week at the St. Elizabeth campus
• Willingness to work during mandatory evacuations on a rotating schedule

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Six (6) months prior PBX experience strongly preferred.

Nice to Have

• Six (6) months prior PBX experience
• Good knowledge of Southeast Texas
• Knowledge of pre-hospital care organizations and practices in Southeast Texas
