About This Role

Prepare quality meals for individuals, primarily following a menu and standardized recipes while adhering to therapeutic diets and safe food handling procedures. This role also involves supporting and training other dietary workers and managing department operations.

Responsibilities

  • Cook food by following menus, standardized recipes, and production sheets for all scheduled meals
  • Prepare all food and beverages to proper consistencies
  • Taste and smell prepared food items to determine quality and palatability
  • Follow therapeutic diets as prescribed by physicians
  • Dish up/serve food to meet portion control and food analysis requirements
  • Provide quality control for other dietary workers in the absence of the Dietary Manager
  • Help train dietary workers
  • Notify Dietary Manager of food, supplies, or equipment needs and report breakdowns/unsafe conditions
  • Follow safe food handling procedures and monitor/document meal temperatures
  • Check shipments, put away stock, and ensure proper food storage
  • Assist with inventory, stocking, and ordering as needed
  • Complete scheduled daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning duties
  • Responsible for opening and closing the dietary department

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License, good driving record and auto insurance
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Ability to pass criminal background, drug screen and physical
  • Minimum 1 year culinary/health care cooking/dietary meal prep experience
