About This Role

The Cook will prepare nutritious and delicious meals that meet the dietary needs of residents, ensuring food is prepared safely and efficiently to the highest quality standards. This role directly contributes to the overall well-being and satisfaction of those served, collaborating with dietary and healthcare teams to accommodate specific medical and nutritional requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes, dietary guidelines, and individual resident needs, including specialized diets and medical conditions
  • Maintain accurate records of food inventory, meal preparation, and dietary modifications to ensure compliance with health and safety standards
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment and work areas are cleaned and sanitized regularly to meet regulatory standards and prevent contamination
  • Assist in menu planning and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance meal quality and resident satisfaction

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a cook in a healthcare or similar environment
  • Minimum of two (2) years' cooking experience working in food service of a long-term care facility or a health-care setting is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to follow detailed dietary instructions and recipes accurately
  • Strong organizational skills to manage records and inventory effectively

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of cooking experience in food service of a long-term care facility or a health-care setting

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a healthcare setting
  • Certification in food safety or culinary arts
  • Familiarity with dietary requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
