Our client, a well-established real estate management/construction company, is seeking a Controller in Queensbury, NY to manage the accounting department and provide human resources leadership. This role will oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and ensure compliance with GAAP.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to the President regarding administrative, human resources, and financial process development and implementation
- Coordinate the company's month-end close including internal financial reporting and supervising accounts receivable and accounts payable
- Manage HR operations covering recruiting, retention, training, development, employee benefits, safety, and health
- Assist with tax return preparation and other organizational reporting, providing financial information to authorized users
- Direct banking activities, receipt/disbursement of monies, and payroll preparation/payment, while managing company cash flows and lines of credit
- Oversee payroll process, expense reimbursements, workers' compensation insurance, and payroll tax reporting
- Administer company vehicle/equipment purchases, cell phone administration, and K-1 distribution to owners
- Oversee maintenance and property management staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Business or Accounting field
- 5-8 years of work experience as a senior level accountant with industry experience at the transaction level
- Ability to analyze financial statements
- Proficient in accounting and accounting software systems
- Excellent spreadsheet skills and a sound understanding of financial controls and analytical review procedures
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to encourage employment development efforts and effectively communicate company culture
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Business or Accounting field
- 5-8 years of work experience as a senior level accountant with industry experience at the transaction level. Experience in financial roles within construction and/or real estate management is preferred.
