This Controller role is crucial for managing the financial health of a $100M retail organization, focusing on financial integrity, reporting, and strategic insights.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the company’s financial integrity and reporting
- Bring structure, consistency, and strong internal controls to the business
- Translate financial data into meaningful insights for executive decision-making
- Develop and mentor a talented accounting team while driving continuous improvement
- Partner directly with ownership and senior leaders
- Ensure accurate, timely financial reporting and audits
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards
- Support informed decision-making at the executive level
Requirements
- 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
- 3+ years in a leadership role
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory compliance
- Experience overseeing full-cycle accounting operations and financial close
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with financial systems
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
- 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role
Nice to Have
- Retail or multi-location business experience
- Inventory accounting and sales tax compliance
- 401(k) administration and payroll systems (ADP preferred)
- Experience working with financial institutions, lenders, and credit card processors
- Leading external audits and working directly with auditors
