About This Role

Perform high-quality diagnostic Computed Tomography (CT) procedures to minimize patient radiation exposure, while ensuring accurate contrast media administration and maintaining meticulous patient records. This role supports Michigan Medicine's mission of excellence in patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high quality Diagnostic CT procedures applying principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient
  • Identify and administer correct contrast media per departmental protocol
  • Use and maintain aseptic technique, accurately draw up sterile contrast media and other solutions
  • Maintain knowledge of and observe universal precautions and all other precautions resolved by the University of Michigan Health System
  • Respond to patients changing physical conditions, such as changes in airway/breathing, heart rate, acute change in level of consciousness, seizure etc.
  • Legibly complete protocol sheets as well as document own actions and patient responses, notes to Radiologist
  • Receive, relay, and document verbal, written, and electronic orders in the patient's medical record

Requirements

  • Current ARRT registration
  • Compliance with State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs CT installations ionizing radiation Rules and American College of Radiology CT Accreditation Program requirements
  • Effective communication skills with patients
  • Ability to function effectively under dynamic and stressful conditions
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments (flexible schedules, emergency conditions, protocol development, technology advancements)
  • Ability to move patients safely and heavy equipment like a portable CT scanner
  • Dexterity using fine motor skills and strong attention to detail

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a school of radiology technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Reasonable experience in diagnostic radiography or computerized tomography

Nice to Have

  • CT certification and previous CT experience
  • PACS Experience
  • Proficient computer skills
  • EPIC experience
