This role supports Mass General Brigham's Behavioral & Mental Health services by facilitating patient referrals, monitoring system-wide capacity, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient throughput and access.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate referrals for various levels of behavioral health care for patients awaiting treatment across MGB emergency departments, medical/surgical units, and inpatient behavioral health units.
- Monitor system-wide capacity to help guide placement efforts.
- Communicate and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams both within and outside of MGB.
- Document and track tasks in medical record (Epic) or elsewhere as indicated.
- Assist with data collection and tracking, data analysis (Excel), and reporting (PowerPoint).
- Receive and promptly respond to phone calls to central behavioral health call line, emails/faxes to central behavioral health inbox, and Teams chats from systemwide stakeholders.
- Provide cross-coverage of tasks related to central access (supporting admissions and bed searches) and central disposition (supporting inpatient throughput).
- Attend department meetings and assist with other department tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience with the mental health care field
- Bachelor's degree
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent judgement and organizational skills
- Ability to successfully multitask
- Ability to be flexible and resourceful
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Assessment and problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress, high-pressure, fast-paced environments
- Familiarity with mental health treatments and services, systems of care and community resources
- Intermediate proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred; concentration in Social Work, Psychology or Health Care preferred
