About This Role

This role supports Mass General Brigham's Behavioral & Mental Health services by facilitating patient referrals, monitoring system-wide capacity, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient throughput and access.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate referrals for various levels of behavioral health care for patients awaiting treatment across MGB emergency departments, medical/surgical units, and inpatient behavioral health units.
  • Monitor system-wide capacity to help guide placement efforts.
  • Communicate and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams both within and outside of MGB.
  • Document and track tasks in medical record (Epic) or elsewhere as indicated.
  • Assist with data collection and tracking, data analysis (Excel), and reporting (PowerPoint).
  • Receive and promptly respond to phone calls to central behavioral health call line, emails/faxes to central behavioral health inbox, and Teams chats from systemwide stakeholders.
  • Provide cross-coverage of tasks related to central access (supporting admissions and bed searches) and central disposition (supporting inpatient throughput).
  • Attend department meetings and assist with other department tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience with the mental health care field
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent judgement and organizational skills
  • Ability to successfully multitask
  • Ability to be flexible and resourceful
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Assessment and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress, high-pressure, fast-paced environments
  • Familiarity with mental health treatments and services, systems of care and community resources
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred; concentration in Social Work, Psychology or Health Care preferred
