Coder III

About This Role

This role is responsible for collecting and analyzing clinical information to accurately assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for billing. The Coder III ensures data integrity and performs daily account productivity with high accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Collect accurate data and report clinical and demographic information to ensure data integrity.
• Retrieve and verify information necessary for accurate coding, utilizing appropriate information systems.
• Assign appropriate diagnoses and procedure codes for final billing.
• Conduct charging audits, review reports, and edit charges appropriately.
• Relay information to the Outpatient Coding Supervisor regarding billing, reimbursement, or statistics.
• Perform required daily account productivity, including accurate documentation and reporting.
• Maintain a data quality standard of 95% accuracy on coding and charging.

Requirements

• 3+ years of CPT and ICD-10-CM coding experience
• RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, COC, or CPC-H certification
• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology
• Knowledge in all aspects of Radiology and Interventional Radiology and wound care coding
• Knowledge of coding guidelines (Official Coding Guidelines, Coding Clinic)
• Skill in using computers and software applications
• Ability to interpret medical terminology for coding records

Qualifications

• Associates Degree preferred.
• At least 3 years of CPT and ICD-10-CM coding experience with certification. 3 years of radiology/interventional radiology coding and charging experience preferred. Knowledge of specialty coding including wound care.

• CIRCC certification
