About This Role

Provide direct patient care to assigned labor and delivery patients utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. This role involves clinical skills, medication administration, patient education, and coordination with other healthcare disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to assigned patients under general supervision
• Compile database and formulate nursing diagnosis using physical assessment and interviewing techniques
• Initiate and update written nursing plan of care for patients incorporating scientific and psychosocial principles
• Coordinate patient, family, significant other, and health team members in planning hospital and post-discharge care
• Perform clinical nursing skills independently
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments appropriately and accurately
• Communicate patient's status and plan of care through written documentation and verbal communication with healthcare professionals
• Apply teaching/learning principles in education of patient and family
• Manage daily patient assignment by appropriately setting priorities and delegating duties to ancillary personnel
• Participate in clinical monitoring, identify unit problems, and engage in professional excellence activities

Requirements

• Associate Degree from an accredited School of Nursing
• Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses as a Registered Nurse
• Healthcare Provider CPR biennial certification
• One-year Registered Nurse experience
• Proficiency in developing nursing plan of care, implementing effective nursing care, and evaluating outcome of nursing intervention
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Effective planning and organizational skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Effective skills in use of computer programs

Qualifications

• Associate Degree from an accredited School of Nursing
• One-year Registered Nurse experience required
