This role involves serving as a clinical expert and educator within the Vascular Access department, applying nursing process and evidence-based practice to manage complex patient care needs. The Clinician Educator will also lead educational sessions to promote staff development and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a consultant for vascular access and infusion nursing
- Apply nursing process and evidence-based practice to manage complex care needs of patient populations
- Serve as a resource person to physicians, nurses, patients, and family members
- Plan and conduct educational sessions for staff development, student competence, and positive patient/family outcomes
- Role model expert communication skills and time management skills
- Complete employee conference, risk management and unit management reports within specified time frames
- Coordinate unit-based clinical orientation program for new staff, students, and preceptors
- Assist with the development of staff portfolios and annual competency checklists
- Mentor new and existing staff by sharing knowledge, skills, and departmental processes
- Ensure compliance and adherence with stated policies and procedures for the unit
Requirements
- 2 years of recent nursing experience
- 2 years of experience in vascular access
- Valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing License (Georgia)
- BLS certification
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- 2 years of recent nursing experience AND a minimum of 2 years of experience in the area of concentration
Nice to Have
- Vascular Access (VA-BC) certification
- Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) certification
- MSN or DNP certification
