About This Role

The Clinical Specialty Physical Therapist provides direct patient care, including assessment and treatment programs, and acts as a clinical resource to staff and students. This role involves developing patient care programs, educating on physical therapy services, and assisting in departmental goals and staff development.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients and interpret examination findings to determine the nature and extent of dysfunction, restoring abilities to move and perform functional activities.
  • Establish treatment goals and plans to achieve established goals relative to age, medical history, and dysfunction.
  • Administer or prescribe modalities, physical agents, and exercise programs while demonstrating professional competence and clinical reasoning.
  • Routinely take usual and special precautions relative to the age, medical history, and condition of the patient, and the type of treatment being given.
  • Reassess clinical signs and symptoms to determine treatment effectiveness, progression towards goals, and the need for modification.
  • Implement treatment programs through direct patient treatment and may delegate portions to appropriate supportive personnel.
  • Coordinate the treatment plan and participate in discharge planning with other healthcare personnel as appropriate.
  • Provide advice and education to patients and families and discharge patients when skilled therapy is no longer medically necessary.
  • Uphold Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable laws.
  • Provide accurate and timely documentation of physical therapy services and work in partnership with management to complete mandatory compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of equivalent experience in physical therapy OR completion of an APTA credentialed fellowship program OR minimum 2 years experience with a specialty certification.
  • Completion of an accredited PT training program with a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Minimum 200 hours of specialized education (continuing education, residency, or fellowship coursework).
  • California Physical Therapist License or Applicant License.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • National Provider Identifier.
  • Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited PT training program with a Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy
  • Minimum three (3) years equivalent experience (2080 hours = 1 year) OR Completion of an APTA credentialed fellowship program (management will verify if credentialed is necessary) OR Minimum two (2) years of experience and ; successful passage of a specialty certification exam.

Nice to Have

  • Member of APTA.
  • Completion of a sports or spine fellowship.
