The Clinical Pharmacist Generalist delivers comprehensive pharmaceutical care, primarily focusing on medication distribution responsibilities, including order verification and inventory control. This role supports excellent patient care by rotating through various hospital settings and potentially engaging in clinical pharmacist duties.
Responsibilities
- Rotate through various roles and locations delivering comprehensive pharmaceutical care and drug distribution
- Verify medication orders and respond to code situations and clinical inquiries
- Oversee medication distribution and product verification
- Supervise pharmacy technicians functionally and manage automation systems and inventory control
- Support 3-4 care teams and participate in multidisciplinary patient rounds (in decentralized roles)
- Review and verify medication orders, providing dosage adjustments per pharmacy policies for specialized therapies
- Conduct daily profile reviews and serve as a preceptor for pharmacy students
- Manage peri-operative medications and narcotic control in Operating Room Pharmacy Satellites
- Prioritize daily responsibilities with accuracy and dependability
- Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, employees, patients, and visitors
Requirements
- Doctor of Pharmacy Degree or equivalent
- Current licensure as a registered pharmacist by the State of Michigan Board of Pharmacy
- Michigan Controlled Substance License or eligibility within 60 days
- Ability to perform manual dexterity movements and keyboarding
- Effective use of computers and applications (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English
Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy or equivalent combination of education and experience
Nice to Have
- Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 residency
- BCPS certification
- Recent inpatient clinical hospital practice experience
- Active membership in professional organizations
