Manage the daily operations of a 54-bed acute Medical and Surgical unit, focusing on staff relations, budget monitoring, regulatory compliance, and ensuring quality patient care. This role supports the strategic plan of UP Health System - Marquette by fostering professional growth and integrating evidence-based practices.
Responsibilities
- Assist with developing specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives supporting the strategic plan and vision
- Manage staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction, and conflict management
- Perform and oversee scheduling, staff development, recruitment, payroll, and student engagements
- Monitor departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, and vendor relations
- Determine and justify needs for systems/equipment/supplies purchases, monitor usage, and oversee proper working order and/or stock supplies
- Assess the quality of patient care delivered and coordinate patient care services with patients, staff, physicians, and other departments
- Create and foster an environment that encourages professional growth
- Integrate evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols
- Provide patient care when necessary
Requirements
- State of Michigan RN license
- Associate degree from an accredited nursing school
- Two (2) years nursing experience
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's degree preferred)
- 2 years nursing experience; 7 years managerial experience preferred
