Clinical Education Aide

About This Role

This role will support special education preschoolers and their families within a preschool setting by assisting the classroom treatment team with planning and carrying out developmentally appropriate activities, tracking children's skills, and implementing appropriate clinical interventions to achieve IEP goals.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom treatment team to plan and carry out developmentally age-appropriate activities to reach desired IEP goals and kindergarten readiness
• Implement projects and develop group activities for children
• Record and track children's skills as directed by the classroom teacher
• Assist with diverse classroom activities and demonstrate appropriate behavior management skills
• Engage and encourage children in developmentally appropriate activities throughout the day
• Modify methods and integrate techniques based on a child's progress, including adapting the physical environment and daily routine
• Utilize non-contact time effectively to maintain the cleanliness and order of the physical environment, including cleaning and organizing materials
• Communicate with children using a variety of strategies such as body language, simple language, signs, and positive reinforcement
• Attend mandatory program-wide and regular team meetings, communicating observations regarding children's daily programs and interactions
• Record data and progress of individual children using program standard materials, including gathering information and tracking developmental skills
• Assist in orienting and mentoring new clinical aides
• Actively contribute to and participate in in-service programs, including hospital-mandated programs
