About This Role

This role serves as the primary point of contact for patients, ensuring a smooth and high-quality experience by combining administrative, clerical, and clinical responsibilities. It focuses on enhancing workflow efficiency, optimizing patient care coordination, and providing direct clinical support.

Responsibilities

  • Behave professionally and empathetically to build trust and understanding with patients and guests
  • Coordinate and perform patient check-in/check-out, ensuring accurate registration, information collection, and insurance verification
  • Collect payments (co-pays or self-pay fees) and process referrals
  • Schedule appointments, optimizing clinic workflow, and handle patient inquiries
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) and ensure compliance
  • Complete all required logs, including quality control logs and stat cart checks
  • Measure and collect patient data including temperature, pulse, oxygenation saturation, respirations, blood pressure, height, weight, and head circumference for pediatric patients
  • Assist providers with collecting patient information such as reason for visit, chief complaint, health history, allergies, and current medications
  • Complete the patient rooming process, implementing standard operating procedures for care and comfort, and identifying/communicating patient risks to the provider
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms, ensuring proper sanitation and supply stocking
  • Collect and prepare lab specimens and complete necessary requisitions
  • Administer medications and vaccinations per provider orders and established protocols within the scope of practice
  • Support patient procedures and assist with medical examinations
  • Complete follow-up phone calls to all patients within two to three days post-discharge

Requirements

  • Specialized Diploma as a Medical Assistant or completion of LVPG Medical Assistant Trainee course
  • Strong multitasking, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in EMR systems, word processing, and Excel
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy and professionalism
  • Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette
  • Knowledge of clinical workflows, medical terminology, and basic patient care practices
  • BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (Within 30 Days)

Qualifications

  • Specialized Diploma as a Medical Assistant or completion of LVPG Medical Assistant Trainee course

  • Associate’s Degree from a Medical Assistant Program
  • 1 year customer service experience in a healthcare setting
  • CCMA - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant - National Healthcareer Association
  • CMA - Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants
  • CMAC - Clinical Medical Assistant Certification - American Medical Certification Association
  • MAC - Medical Assistant Certification - American Medical Certification Association
  • NCMA - National Certified Medical Assistant - National Center for Competency Testing
  • NRCMA - National Registered Certified Medical Assistant - National Association for Health Professionals
  • RMA - Registered Medical Assistant - American Medical Technologists
