Drive a tractor trailer or straight truck on local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight routes to deliver food and related products to customers safely and on time, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations. This role involves building lasting relationships with customers and representing the company.
Responsibilities
- Communicate and interact professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers
- Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
- Report all safety issues and/or repairs required immediately
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight and perform count checks of items against customer invoices
- Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly
- Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined routes
- Unload products from trailer and transport into designated customer storage areas
- Perform damage control checks on items, scan, and contact supervisor about removing orders
- Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures; collect money if required
- Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors
- Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are always appropriately locked and/or secured
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
- Complete daily record of hours of service in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers tidy
Requirements
- 12+ months commercial driving experience
- High school diploma/GED or state approved equivalent
- Valid CDL A
- Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements
- Must be 21 years of age
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or state approved equivalent
- 12+ months commercial driving experience
