The Truck Driver - Class A (Nights) is responsible for safely driving a tractor-trailer or straight truck on various routes to deliver and unload food and food-related products to customers. This role involves communicating with customers and ensuring timely, safe deliveries while complying with DOT regulations.
Responsibilities
- Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations and company safety standards.
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies, immediately reporting any safety hazards.
- Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight, perform count checks, and complete all required paperwork accurately.
- Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route schedule, unloading products into designated storage areas.
- Perform damage control checks, scan items, verify delivery with customers, obtain signatures, and collect payments when required.
- Load customer returns onto the trailer, secure trailer doors, and ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are always locked and secured.
- Complete daily record of hours of service in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
- Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor and loading dock area, keeping trailers clear and clean as required.
- At the end of the shift, secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns in the driver check-in area and complete necessary paperwork.
Requirements
- 6+ months commercial driving experience
- Valid CDL-A
- Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Valid current DOT Health Card or ability to secure one
- Ability to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move product cases/freight (10-90 pounds) throughout shift
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
- 6+ months commercial driving experience
