About This Role

The Civil Engineer-Unregistered contributes to the Mohave County Public Works Engineering Division by designing and preparing road projects, conducting traffic engineering studies, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards. This role supports the management of day-to-day operations and public infrastructure development.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare designs and traffic and highway engineering plans in accordance with Mohave County adopted standards
  • Perform complex engineering analyses and calculations
  • Design, prepare drawings, specifications, bidding documents, contracts, and cost estimates for road projects
  • Coordinate design and construction surveying; perform construction engineering, management, and inspections
  • Provide design data for and perform analysis using engineering applications including Computer-Aided Drafting and GIS
  • Assist with engineering division review of residential subdivision and commercial project plans
  • Conduct traffic engineering studies to support compliance with adopted standards and safety improvement planning
  • Perform pavement designs and evaluate existing conditions, making recommendations on preservation strategies
  • Prepare permit applications and supporting technical documents as required by local, state, and federal agencies
  • Perform related duties as required and provide technical assistance to other departments and outside agencies

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
  • Ability to understand, interpret and apply pertinent federal, state, county, city, and departmental laws, rules, regulations, codes, standards, policies, and procedures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a College or University accredited by ABET, Inc.

Nice to Have

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification or pending results
  • Satisfy all education requirements for professional registration by the Technical Board of Registration for the State of Arizona
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations, codes and engineering standards pertaining to Public Works projects
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of civil engineering as applied to design, construction, operation, and maintenance of roads, traffic/transportation systems, and public infrastructure
  • Knowledge of hydrology and hydraulics as applied to floodplain delineation and flood control projects
  • Experience with computer aided design systems and applications (CAD)
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
