The Victim Notification Advocate provides essential direct services to crime victims by informing them about the criminal justice system, their rights, and case events. This role involves preparing and sending notifications, ensuring victims are aware of court hearings, plea offers, and their right to participate in legal proceedings.
Responsibilities
- Meet and greet the public and respond to phone calls regarding department procedures
- Talk with individuals to gather preliminary or verify information for County programs
- Review work of other staff for conformance to regulations as requested
- Perform routine administrative tasks such as sorting mail, making copies, scanning documents, and maintaining records
- Contact vendors to obtain prices and purchase supplies
- Maintain and establish associated files, ensuring completeness and accuracy in filing and data systems
- Prepare follow-up correspondence or calls to obtain additional information or respond to inquiries
- Prepare standardized reports and statements and process payments in the database
- Record attendance and document notes at required meetings
- Collect, compile, and submit data for statistical reports or operating studies
- Process legal documents including claims, writs, and warrants, and deliver/file them with the Court
- Enter or update information in the Justware legal database/case management system
Requirements
- High School diploma/GED
- 2 years of progressive office support and clerical training, cash handling and/or bookkeeping
- Modern office practices and records management/maintenance procedures
- Proficiency in English grammar and spelling
- Basic mathematics for accounting procedures
- Proficiency with filing and information systems, including Excel and Microsoft Word
- Ability to operate personal computers, calculators and peripheral hardware and software
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Proficiency with databases and other forms of electronic data storage
- Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation
- Ability to maintain a high standard of confidentiality
- Ability to understand and interpret procedures and practices related to departmental and assigned programs
Qualifications
- High School diploma/ GED (General Education Degree)
- Two (2) years minimum of progressive office support and clerical training, cash handling and/or bookkeeping, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
