Lead the overall operations of the nursing department for a state-of-the-art inpatient rehabilitation hospital, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective patient care and managing nursing personnel. This role involves developing and implementing departmental goals and projects, participating in the hospital's Governing Body, and integrating the hospital's mission and guiding principles.
Responsibilities
- Assume an active leadership role
- Oversee the overall operations of the nursing department
- Ensure high-quality, cost-effective delivery of patient care
- Manage nursing personnel
- Develop and implement approved department projects and goals
- Manage waived testing and equipment
- Supervise other departments or services providing clinical care to patients
- Participate as a member of the hospital Governing Body
- Integrate the hospital's mission and 'Guiding Principles' into daily practice
Requirements
- Current state Registered Nurse license
- Current CPR certification
- Master's degree in nursing or related field with 1+ year in administration, OR Baccalaureate degree in nursing or related field with 2+ years in nursing administration, OR 4+ years in nursing administration/supervision with related continuing education
- Knowledge of current nursing theory and practice, infection control, and wound care standards
- Knowledge of TJC and CMS accreditation standards
- Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures
- Understanding of treatment costs and financial support related to quality and efficiency
- General computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and record management
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality
- Ability to work closely and professionally with others
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards
- Ability to demonstrate leadership, clinical expertise, and appropriate interpersonal skills
Qualifications
- Master's degree in nursing or a related field with at least one year of administration experience; or Baccalaureate degree in nursing or a related field with at least two years of nursing administration experience; or At least four years of nursing administration or supervision experience with continuing education.
- At least one year of administration experience with a Master's degree, or two years of nursing administration experience with a Baccalaureate degree, or four years in nursing administration or supervision.
