Chemistry Instructor, Adjunct Faculty

About This Role

Provide instruction in a full range of Chemistry courses as a part-time adjunct faculty member at Kern Community College District. The role includes teaching at various campus sites, curriculum development, and participation in departmental activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in a full range of Chemistry courses
• Teach at other campus sites, day or evening classes, weekend classes, large classes, and distance learning using multiple methodologies
• Participate in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Physical Science department
• Maintain subject matter currency
• Develop and revise curriculum
• Utilize computer and multimedia technology in teaching
• Collegially participate in departmental, college and discipline-specific professional activities

Requirements

• Master's in Chemistry
• OR Bachelor's degree in chemistry or Biochemistry AND Master's degree in biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical physics, physics, molecular biology, or geochemistry
• OR Possession of a valid credential which authorizes the full-time teaching of Chemistry at the California Community College level
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students

Qualifications

• Master's in Chemistry OR Bachelor's degree in chemistry or Biochemistry AND Master's degree in biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical physics, physics, molecular biology, or geochemistry OR Possession of a valid credential authorizing full-time teaching of Chemistry at the California Community College level
