Charge Entry Specialist

About This Role

This role involves accurately entering charges into the practice management system and coordinating with front office staff to ensure high-quality patient care and efficient billing. The position focuses on clerical expertise within a medical setting, ensuring completeness and accuracy of medical records for billing purposes.

Responsibilities

• Receive and review charge documents for accuracy
• Coordinate with front office staff on all payment/billing issues
• Enter charges into the practice management system
• Balance Charge Summary to tickets keyed before finalizing/updating charges in the system
• Extract information from medical records, operative notes, hospital admissions, consults, progress notes, and discharges to ensure completeness and accuracy
• Assist with identifying quality issues with registration and scheduling activities

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of coding, billing, and/or charge entry experience in the healthcare field

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of coding, billing, and/or charge entry experience in the healthcare field

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of medical terminology and coding
• Familiarity with third party billing requirements and payment policies
