About This Role

This role involves providing direct patient care to veterans as a Certified Nursing Assistant, assisting with daily living activities, and supporting nursing staff. This position contributes to the well-being of veterans by delivering high-quality care and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Veterans/Members with transfers, ambulation, eating, bathing, dressing, toileting, personal hygiene and other ADLs
  • Use simple procedures and devices to strengthen Veterans'/Members' limbs and maintain flexibility
  • Assist nursing staff with simple medical procedures such as suppositories, enemas, treatments, post-surgical care and post-mortem care
  • Monitor physical and mental status of Veterans/Members by utilizing appropriate medical equipment and techniques to take vital signs
  • Obtain urine, sputum or stool samples; and track input/output
  • Responsible for medical record and worksheet documentation on all assigned Veterans/Members
  • Assist Veterans/Members with dining to include transporting to the dining room, informing them about menu choices, and serving meals
  • Provide resident care and comfort by responding to patient requests timely in accordance with the Resident Bill of Rights
  • Maintain cleanliness of areas neat and sanitary by changing bedding, linens and other items
  • Report to and assist licensed nurses in emergency situations rapidly and appropriately following established policies and procedure

Requirements

  • Current or temporary certification to practice as a Certified Nurse Assistant in the State of Arizona
  • Current Negative TB skin test (Mantoux skin test) within the last twelve months or a written statement from a physician, physician’s assistant or a registered nurse practitioner indicating freedom from Tuberculosis, if in the past has had a positive skin test or Tuberculosis
  • Ability to obtain and retain a fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety
  • Current CPR card that was obtained by physical assessment
  • Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify)

Qualifications

  • One or more years of skilled nursing facility or long-term care experience preferred
