This role involves providing direct patient care to veterans as a Certified Nursing Assistant, assisting with daily living activities, and supporting nursing staff. This position contributes to the well-being of veterans by delivering high-quality care and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Assist Veterans/Members with transfers, ambulation, eating, bathing, dressing, toileting, personal hygiene and other ADLs
- Use simple procedures and devices to strengthen Veterans'/Members' limbs and maintain flexibility
- Assist nursing staff with simple medical procedures such as suppositories, enemas, treatments, post-surgical care and post-mortem care
- Monitor physical and mental status of Veterans/Members by utilizing appropriate medical equipment and techniques to take vital signs
- Obtain urine, sputum or stool samples; and track input/output
- Responsible for medical record and worksheet documentation on all assigned Veterans/Members
- Assist Veterans/Members with dining to include transporting to the dining room, informing them about menu choices, and serving meals
- Provide resident care and comfort by responding to patient requests timely in accordance with the Resident Bill of Rights
- Maintain cleanliness of areas neat and sanitary by changing bedding, linens and other items
- Report to and assist licensed nurses in emergency situations rapidly and appropriately following established policies and procedure
Requirements
- Current or temporary certification to practice as a Certified Nurse Assistant in the State of Arizona
- Current Negative TB skin test (Mantoux skin test) within the last twelve months or a written statement from a physician, physician’s assistant or a registered nurse practitioner indicating freedom from Tuberculosis, if in the past has had a positive skin test or Tuberculosis
- Ability to obtain and retain a fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety
- Current CPR card that was obtained by physical assessment
- Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify)
Qualifications
- One or more years of skilled nursing facility or long-term care experience preferred
