The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides essential basic nursing services to patients under the direct supervision of a professional nurse, focusing on personal hygiene, comfort, safety, and protection. This role supports patient care by fulfilling delegated tasks in accordance with the Nursing Practice Act.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic nursing services for patients as delegated by and under the direct supervision of the professional nurse
- Provide personal hygiene, comfort, safety, and protection to patients
- Perform non-nursing support functions as required
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served
- Acquire and/or demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span
- Provide care with consideration of developmental status
- Relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions
- Get along with co-workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes
- Perform work activities requiring negotiating, instructing, supervising, persuading, or speaking with others
- Respond appropriately to constructive feedback from a supervisor
Requirements
- Current CNA certification
- Current BLS certification
