About This Role

Assist licensed pharmacists in providing drug therapy through the preparation of sterile products, maintaining patient records, and coordinating the efficient operation of IV admixture services. This role supports patient needs by preparing various infusions and ensuring their timely and accurate delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Aseptically prepare infusion medications under pharmacist supervision according to sterile compounding procedures
  • Enter medication and patient demographics into the information system and coordinate medication delivery
  • Place orders, restock shelves, compile monthly cost statistics, and complete medication audits
  • Maintain and track equipment used in the administration of infusion therapies
  • Provide staffing support to other KP Pharmacies as needed and assist with special projects
  • Perform general clerical duties including cash register operation, cash handling, and member eligibility verification
  • Under supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, perform technical duties like entering prescription data, counting, and packaging medication
  • Assist with inventory control, purchasing, pharmaceutical returns, and product rotation and maintenance
  • Serve members in a friendly, courteous, and expedient manner to promote satisfaction and retention
  • Participate in patient education programs as appropriate
  • Assist the IV pharmacist in receiving prescription orders for oncology and infusion therapy, maintaining patient profiles
  • Carry out various quality assurance procedures including laminar-flow hood cleaning and inspection

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Minimum One (1) year of home infusion or hospital admixture experience or outpatient infusion/admixture experience
  • Experience with computerized pharmacy systems and IV manual and automated equipment
  • Ability to communicate pleasantly and effectively with members and coworkers
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, pharmaceutical dosage forms and nomenclature and calculations
  • Basic accounting and purchasing skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure
  • Knowledge of customer focused service requirements of the organization

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician and minimum one (1) year of home infusion or hospital admixture experience or outpatient infusion/admixture experience required.

Nice to Have

  • Minimum two (2) years of admixture or IV experience
  • Customer service aptitude demonstrated through Customer Service Assessment
  • Successful completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program or U.S military program
