CASAC

About This Role

The CASAC provides counseling services to patients within the inpatient and outpatient substance abuse treatment services department. This role involves performing screenings, assessments, developing treatment plans, and conducting various counseling sessions.

Responsibilities

• Perform SUD and COD Screenings for all new patients to assess treatment needs.
• Complete all necessary intake documents for new patients.
• Orient new patients to the unit and treatment program.
• Complete SUD assessments for new patients to obtain history and current needs.
• Based on assessment, write an impression summarizing patient's history and diagnostic summary.
• Complete and justify level of care needs based on LOCADTR guidelines.
• Develop a treatment plan addressing current problems, goals, objectives, and methods.
• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions.
• Conduct treatment sessions with family members and other supports.
• Conduct educational sessions individually and in group to provide information about disorders and coping skills.
• Provide case management activities to connect patients with outside agencies.
• Provide group therapy as a co-facilitator with other staff.
• Respond to and intervene/de-escalate any patient-related crisis.
• Provide all needed educational sessions with patients to assist in their recovery process.
• Provide referrals to patients for ongoing needs and at discharge.
• Document all patient related activities in the medical record and other required documentation.
• Collaborate with other treatment providers and disciplines on the treatment team and with outside providers.
• Provide administrative and clinical supervision for other staff, as per OASAS guidelines.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Current CASAC Credential
• 6,000 hours work experience
