Blood Bank Lead Tech

About This Role

Supervise technical and clerical personnel in a Blood Bank, overseeing specimen processing, test analysis, and reporting. Troubleshoot departmental issues and perform testing as needed, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Enforce technical and administrative policies and procedures per professional and hospital standards
• Prepare for, participate in, and comply with inspections by regulatory agencies
• Communicate department and hospital policy in a clear and supportive manner
• Provide both positive feedback and constructive criticism to staff
• Facilitate shift to shift changeover and assign daily work schedules
• Maintain staffing levels to assure turnaround time targets are met
• Oversee the generation of all test results and conduct quality control activities
• Train staff and conduct competency testing
• Assist in the resolution, clarification, and reaffirmation of clinically difficult or unusual results
• Coordinate emergency response for the laboratory and maintain laboratory safety standards

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science
• 5 years experience in laboratory science
• 2 years supervisory experience
• ASCP or equivalent certification (MLS or MT)
• Proficient in office applications

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science
• 5 years experience in laboratory science and a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience
