About This Role

This role involves maintaining and repairing medical and water treatment equipment in kidney care clinics, training colleagues on dialysis machine operations, and managing essential medical supplies. The Biomedical Equipment Technician ensures patient safety and regulatory compliance through diligent technical work and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair dialysis equipment, ancillary equipment, and water treatment systems
  • Maintain the physical plant as directed
  • Ensure outside vendor services are completed per contract
  • Purchase and retain an inventory of service parts
  • Perform, evaluate, and report water/dialysate sample collection and all required actions
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly trend analysis on the water system to ensure proper function
  • Document all repairs and maintenance activity
  • Assist in planning and installing biomedical equipment to ensure safe and effective operation of the facility
  • Transport equipment as needed with supervisor consent
  • Participate in monthly technical and regulatory meetings
  • Collaborate with facility staff to ensure all regulatory and OSHA requirements are met
  • Manage inventory, including receiving, putting up deliveries, inventory counts, and transporting goods between clinics
  • Perform initial and annual verification and ongoing monitoring of patient care staff’s technique for testing water system
  • Complete all technical training programs required by state/federal regulations and company policy
  • Provide scheduled after-hour technical on-call coverage for clinics as needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Less than 1-year related experience
  • Manual dexterity and ability to use common hand tools and small power equipment
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and safely move large/bulky equipment

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required. Associate Degree in electronics / biomedical technology, or equivalent (preferred but not required)
  • Less than 1-year related experience.

Nice to Have

  • Associate Degree in electronics / biomedical technology, or equivalent
  • Prior experience working in a mechanical, automotive, or construction industry, dialysis, or medical technical setting
