Biology Instructor

About This Role

Instruct biology courses on a part-time basis for Kern Community College District, utilizing a depth of knowledge in the discipline while working effectively with diverse students and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an environment that promotes innovation, teaching, learning and service to a diverse student population
• Effectively work with students with a wide range of skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals
• Develop curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities
• Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges and universities
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Maintain subject matter currency
• Assess student learning outcomes
• Explore new technologies that would benefit the program

Requirements

• Master's in any biological science OR Bachelor's in any biological science AND Master's in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science (or equivalent)
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
