This role supports bioinformatics data collection and analysis for an NIH Grant and BCH laboratory research within the Manis Laboratory at Boston Children's Hospital. The Bioinformatician I guides researchers, supports manuscript and grant writing, and provides relevant data, statistics, and analyses to advance research in Transfusion Medicine.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with PI in the selection of bioinformatics method and the collection of experimental data, managing and advising researchers on specification and conduct of bioinformatics analysis.
- Identify and develop data analysis reports and presentations needed for managing the data analysis and monitoring project progress.
- Perform a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures, utilizing standard laboratory equipment, recording and checking results for completeness and accuracy.
- Contribute to preparation of manuscripts including writing of bioinformatics methods and design, relevant results and data tables and graphs, and justifications of selections of specific bioinformatics approaches and data analysis pipelines.
- Collaborate and consult with investigators and researchers on design, collection, and analysis of biomedical research data.
- Provide education and consultation to investigators, research residents and fellows, faculty and key research study staff in the lab and collaborators on basic and advanced design and analyses issues.
- Lead and manage the work of bioinformatics analysis requiring assistance from the PIs and researcher involved in relevant projects. Collaborate with bioinformatics programmers and master’s level bioinformaticians on experimental design and methods for analyses.
- Provide positive and effective bioinformatics advice to lab and outside collaborators on joint projects and contribute to teamwork.
- May provide education and consultation to investigators, research residents and fellows, faculty and key research study staff in the lab and collaborators on basic and advanced design and analyses issues.
- May lead and manage the work of bioinformatics analysis requiring assistance from the PIs and researcher involved in relevant projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- 2 years of experience in bioinformatics consulting and analysis
- Experience with protocol generation and grant writing assistance
- Experience with scientific writing collaboration
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2 years of experience, including bioinformatics consulting and analysis, assistance with protocol generation and grant writing, and collaboration in scientific writing.
