Analyze and compare amplicon sequences to define the human microbiome, prepare figures for publications and presentations, and adapt bioinformatic workflows for sequence analysis. Advise team members on analysis strategies and stay current with conceptual state-of-the-art methods in relevant literature.
Responsibilities
- Analyzing and comparing amplicon sequences that define the human microbiome
- Preparing figures and text for publication and presentations
- Adapting and implementing bioinformatic workflows for sequence analysis
- Reading relevant literature, including conceptual state-of-the-art methods
- Working with team members to advise on analysis strategies
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in mathematics/statistics, computational biology or equivalent
- Familiarity with DNA sequence analysis, especially rRNA gene sequences
- Familiarity with microbial diversity metrics
- Proficiency in R for data analysis and visualization
- A minimum of 4 years of research experience performing bioinformatics research
- Adept at command line interfaces
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in mathematics/statistics, computational biology or equivalent
- A minimum of 4 years of research experience performing bioinformatics research
Nice to Have
- Co-authorship on publications related to the gut microbiome
- Expertise with mothur and R
