Bakery Department Manager

About This Role

Manage the overall direction and evaluation of the Bakery department, ensuring superior customer service and product quality. Train and supervise a team of Partners, leading to efficient production and sales goals.

Responsibilities

• Make employment-related and business decisions for the Bakery department, including product strategies, hiring, and disciplinary actions
• Train School of Retail Management (SORM) and School of Retail Leadership (SORL) trainees
• Assist all Partners in the department with duties, coach, train, and evaluate performance
• Prepare work schedules, order product, control inventory, and monitor department budget and payroll
• Prepare the production plan and ensure correct quantities are produced
• Execute merchandising programs and drive sales by producing appropriate variety and quantity of bakery products daily
• Increase department contribution by effectively managing shrink and inventory levels
• Maintain the highest levels of customer service through personal example, SOP compliance, and accountability
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and H-E-B policy and standards for product food safety and sanitation
• Maintain safety and sanitation of equipment and the department

Requirements

• 3+ years of leadership experience
• Certified Bakery Expert or equivalent (e.g., RBA-certified Master Baker)
• School of Retail Management (SORM) training
• Food Safety certification
• Forklift / power jack training
• Advanced interpersonal and verbal / written communication skills
• Strong leadership skills
• Analytical skills
• Organization and planning skills
• Feedback skills
• Computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel), and H-E-B systems
• Ability to adapt to stressful situations with change management
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between tasks
• Ability to delegate effectively
