This role will support automated manufacturing equipment, focusing on troubleshooting, development, and installation. The engineer will ensure efficient and functional automation systems for the company's production lines.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, develop, fabricate, program, install, and document automated manufacturing equipment and systems.
- Support systems including PLCs, controls, industrial robots, cobots, smart tools, and run-up tables.
- Specify, design, integrate, program, install, and troubleshoot automated manufacturing equipment for fabrication, weld, paint, assembly, and testing.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain documentation and software for equipment, including schematics and operating instructions.
- Collaborate with other sites to evaluate existing equipment for upgrades in data acquisition, automation, and efficiency.
- Maintain development project budgets and inventory.
- Consult or assist in modifying existing equipment to optimize performance or integrate new features.
- Develop or assist in developing capital requests for projects.
- Manage system development, optimization, and support projects, providing regular status reports.
- Supervise and mentor Mechatronics Technicians.
- Provide formal and informal technical training to production associates, site mechatronics technicians, and other staff.
- Support manufacturing lines by providing technical troubleshooting of automated equipment, including PLCs and control systems.
- Stay informed of new industrial technology and report on its potential utilization within the plant.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electromechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar
- 2-4 years of experience in automated systems development and integration
- Working knowledge of automated electrical systems (electrical wiring, control circuits, programming, troubleshooting)
- Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems (AC standard and servo motor drives, PLC integration, electromechanical control circuits with pneumatic and hydraulic components)
- Knowledge of automation, electrical, and safety compliance codes
- Flexible hours to cover off-hours support
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Independent, self-motivated, and open to technical mentoring
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electromechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar discipline
- 2-4 years of experience in automated systems development and integration for Engineer II, 5+ years for Engineer III
Nice to Have
- Experience in Ladder-Logic programming
- Experience with AB PLCs and Rockwell systems software
- Experience with UL, Fanuc, Kuka programming
- Experience with computer drafting software such as AutoCAD, Creo, or Windchill
