About This Role

This role involves recognizing, evaluating, and treating orthopedic and sports-related disabilities and injuries, providing emergency medical care, and restoring function through therapeutic treatments under physician direction. You will be part of an interdisciplinary MedSport Sports Medicine team, providing direct patient care and supporting athletic training service agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care with a team approach in conjunction with a physician, physical therapist, athletic trainer, and assistive personnel
  • Apply strapping, bandaging, or bracing designed to prevent or protect athletes against injury
  • Administer therapeutic techniques and modalities such as ultrasound, electrostimulation, hydrotherapy, cryotherapy, as well as active, passive, and assistive exercises
  • Perform preliminary evaluations, screen injuries, and refer individuals to physicians
  • Assist in the development of rehabilitation programs independently or with other allied health care clinicians
  • Administer first aid to injured athletes
  • Assist in the development of conditioning programs
  • Assist in the training/education of students who are in the athletic training fellowship/internship program
  • Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in athletic training or related health field or equivalent experience
  • Current licensure or eligible to apply as an Athletic Trainer in the State of Michigan
  • Ability to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, squat, walk, and lift objects up to 100#

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in athletic training or related health field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree in athletic training or a related health field or equivalent experience
  • NATA BOC certification in athletic training
  • AHA/BLS CPR certification
