About This Role

Serve as an Associate Patient Care Coordinator for Optum Pediatric Urgent Care, responsible for executing processes and protocols, delivering exceptional customer service, and supporting the care team to meet financial, clinical, and service goals.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients, family members, and guests with a friendly smile
  • Assist patients with signing in and completing registration
  • Schedule appointments for new or established patients
  • Follow payment Security policy and procedures according to Optum Medical guidelines
  • Answer incoming phone calls in a courteous and prompt manner; direct calls and take messages
  • Maintain a work queue list, completing pending actions like referrals and scheduling appointments
  • Obtain referrals
  • Enter and scan patient's demographic and insurance information into Epic
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefit information; inform patients of insurance benefits
  • Assist physician and clinical staff by coordinating follow up care, scheduling referral appointments, and obtaining authorization for diagnostic testing
  • Send patient records to primary care physician
  • Assist with other tasks as assigned
  • Be cross-trained as a medical assistant

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of computer proficiency experience (ability to work with multiple monitors at one time)
  • 1+ years of customer service or healthcare related experience
  • Ability to travel to other offices if needed for coverage
  • Ability to be cross trained as a medical assistant

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of computer proficiency experience and 1+ years of customer service or healthcare related experience

Nice to Have

  • 1+ years of experience working in medical front office position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays, and maintaining medical records
  • Experience working with an electronic health record (EPIC)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of insurance carriers and managed care plans
  • Bilingual English and Spanish
