Assistant/Associate Professor - Music: Piano

About This Role

This role involves directing the keyboard program, teaching applied piano lessons, coaching chamber music, and recruiting students to enhance the quality and visibility of the program.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate and lead a dynamic piano program
• Direct the keyboard program
• Teach applied lessons to piano majors
• Coach chamber music
• Teach keyboard literature
• Recruit undergraduate and graduate students to grow the program
• Shape a distinctive program in alignment with the School’s Strategic Plan

Requirements

• Demonstrated record of or potential for excellence in teaching
• Demonstrated record of excellence in performance as a soloist and/or chamber musician
• Fluid and facile technique
• Breadth of and curiosity about repertoire
• Understanding of context-based growth opportunities

Qualifications

• MM or equivalent professional experience

Nice to Have

• Record of success in program growth and student recruitment
• External institutional affiliations (e.g., summer festivals for pianists)
