This role involves assisting in the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of construction projects. The Assistant Project Manager ensures projects align with company strategy, commitments, and goals.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineers, architects to determine project specifications
- Assist Project Manager with negotiating contracts with external vendors
- Collaborate and communicate with the client daily
- Assist Project Manager in establishing the project chart of accounts, developing and updating the CPM construction schedule
- Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues
- Provide administrative support to the Project Superintendent and leadership and training to the project staff
- Track, review and process Change Proposal Requests, Change Orders, Owner Payment Applications
- Monitor job costs, maintain accurate reports
- Manage the preparation and executing of the Project closeout process
- Solicit bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers
Requirements
- In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles
- Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards
- Good knowledge of MS Office
- Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- A team player with leadership abilities
Qualifications
- BSc/BA in engineering, building science, construction management or relevant field (preferred)
- 3+ years of Federal Government Construction experience; 5+ years of Construction industry experience (preferred)
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with construction/project management software (CMIC)
- Familiarity with scheduling software (P6)
- 3 years of Federal Government Construction experience
- 5 years of Construction industry experience
