About This Role

Supervise and support individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting, ensuring their safety, well-being, and participation in daily activities and community integration. This role involves scheduling, staff training, and vehicle management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing protective oversight to people living in the residence
  • Maintain 24/7 On-Call accessibility
  • Assist with scheduling, personnel-related issues, and training of residential staff
  • Provide assistance and instruction for individuals in basic activities of daily living
  • Complete staff performance evaluations
  • Participate in IDT or Life Plan meetings and OPWDD surveys
  • Coach and observe staff on Person-Centered Supports
  • Participate in the selection and evaluation of staff
  • Successfully complete the AMAP course and annual recertification
  • Perform general lifting (e.g., laundry, groceries)
  • Drive agency vehicles, demonstrate safe driving practices, and participate in agency driver safety courses
  • Ensure cleanliness of vehicles and address any maintenance issues
  • Responsible for NYS Vehicle Inspection and routine maintenance of agency vehicles
  • Conduct road tests with prospective and current employees on agency’s vehicle
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment including weekly walk-throughs with Residence Manager
  • Ensure adherence to agency quality standards of operation and make decisions in conjunction with or in absence of Residence Manager
  • Assist people supported in planning, coordinating and attending community integration/inclusion activities

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One year’s experience working with people with developmental disabilities
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment road test

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One year’s experience working with people with developmental disabilities and six months’ supervisory experience preferred

Nice to Have

  • Six months’ supervisory experience
