About This Role

The Assistant Professor contributes significantly to the Doctor of Audiology (AuD) program at MGH Institute of Health Professions, focusing on teaching and scholarship. This role involves curricular design, student assessment, and active participation within an interprofessional team in a highly-ranked CSD department.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the curricular design, delivery method, student assessment, and educational policies for the Doctor of Audiology program
  • Add content and activate pages in the learning management system before the start of each term
  • Provide a course syllabus following the approved Institute template
  • Hold weekly office hours for student consultations, typically three hours a week for six credits
  • Become familiar with and uphold academic integrity policies
  • Develop and disseminate grading criteria consistent with the Institute’s grading policy
  • Assess and return assigned work to allow students to incorporate feedback into subsequent projects
  • Contribute to shared governance through attendance at faculty meetings and service on Institute committees
  • Advise students to ensure their success and satisfaction in academic and clinical education activities
  • Pursue individualized programs of scholarship aligning with interests and career stage (clinical innovation, education, translational research, health equity, community-engaged scholarship)

Requirements

  • PhD in hearing science or related field

  • Graduate-level teaching experience
  • Record of student mentorship
  • Evidence of service in higher education or the audiology profession
  • Knowledge of online learning platforms and instructional technologies
