About This Role

Valdosta State University is seeking an Assistant Professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, conduct research, and provide academic advising. This tenure-track position offers the opportunity to contribute to a vibrant academic and clinical community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom instruction for undergraduate and graduate level courses in Communication Sciences and Disorders
  • Establish a program of research and disseminate results through presentations and publications
  • Offer academic advising and mentoring for undergraduate and graduate students
  • Engage in service at the program, department, university, discipline, and community levels
  • Conduct and present research in the employee's academic discipline

Requirements

  • Terminal degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or closely related field (Ph.D., Ed.D., SLPD)
  • Strong record of, or potential for publications in the candidate's area of interest
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, learning, and scholarship

Qualifications

  • Terminal degree at the time of appointment in Communication Sciences and Disorders or closely related field (Ph.D., Ed.D., SLPD)

Nice to Have

  • Expertise in adult neurogenic cognitive disorders, dysphagia, and neuroanatomy
  • Eligibility for ASHA certification in Speech-Language Pathology, and/or licensure in Georgia
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting
  • Record of mentoring students in clinical and/or research experiences
  • Previous college-level teaching experience in Communication Sciences and Disorders
  • Evidence of knowledge and experience with course subject-matter, evidence-based teaching, and clinical practices
  • Strong communication skills and a student-inspired approach to teaching for educational excellence, equity, advocacy, and serving students and communities
