About This Role

This leadership role in Treasury Governance ensures the integrity of Tax (1099) and Unclaimed Property programs by shaping strategy, strengthening controls, and delivering excellence in high-visibility functions. The Assistant Director II leads teams responsible for tax information reporting and unclaimed property across the organization. This position manages staff across multiple units and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to maintain compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee governance programs for Tax Information Reporting and Unclaimed Property, ensuring adherence to all IRS, state, and jurisdictional requirements
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting tax reporting and unclaimed property; assess business impact and lead implementation of required updates
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce policies and business procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and strong internal controls
  • Partner with Legal, Tax, Compliance, and business units to ensure alignment and consistent application of governance standards
  • Lead teams responsible for accurate execution of 1099 reporting, withholding, and TIN validation
  • Oversee the Unclaimed Property life cycle, including escheatment processing, due diligence, reporting, audits, and state outreach
  • Direct the strategic offshore partnership supporting Tax and Unclaimed Property operations
  • Ensure daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual operating activities are completed timely and accurately
  • Maintain oversight of balancing, reconciliation, and audit-ready documentation to support financial reporting, IRS audits, and state unclaimed property examinations
  • Partner with Treasury Leadership to define long-term governance strategy for Tax Reporting and Unclaimed Property
  • Define and prioritize business and system requirements to enhance operational efficiency, reduce risk, and support automation initiatives
  • Represent Governance in discussions with external agencies, regulators, financial institutions, and software vendors
  • Communicate regulatory updates, emerging issues, and risk assessments to senior leaders and other stakeholders
  • Use data and analytics to identify risk trends, improve process controls, streamline manual tasks, and support continuous improvement
  • Coach, develop, and manage staff, advancing team capabilities in compliance, risk management, and operational excellence
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration across Treasury, Finance, Tax, Claims, and other business units
  • Build a culture focused on compliance integrity, strong controls, and high-quality customer service

Requirements

  • 15 years of experience in a financial role
  • People leadership experience
  • Ability to execute thoroughly in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions
  • Ability to facilitate cross-functional collaboration
  • Effective communication to a wide variety of audiences at all levels
  • Comfortable leading meetings and making presentations
  • Advanced understanding of Finance Tools and Analytical Methods
  • Extensive knowledge of interrelationships between large scale enterprise-wide systems and information flows
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting/treasury systems and accounting concepts

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting
  • 15 years of experience in financial role, preferably with Treasury experience
