The Assistant Club Manager provides leadership and direction within the club, driving performance in specific departments and ensuring consistent execution of policies and member service excellence. This role prepares individuals for Club Manager positions by focusing on talent development and operational leadership.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic department leadership, overseeing daily operations across assigned departments (Merchandising, Perishables, or Member Experience)
- Recruit, hire, and onboard team members, managing the full hiring process including interviewing and staffing decisions
- Oversee labor planning and scheduling, creating effective schedules aligned with business trends and budgetary targets
- Drive sales, inventory control, and shrink management, ensuring in-stock conditions and accurate inventory management
- Champion Member Experience Standards, modeling and enforcing Greet, Anticipate, Appreciate (GAA) and Grand Opening Look Daily (GOLD) standards
- Execute operational readiness, upholding “close to open” standards for clean, stocked, and safe departments
- Lead department talent management, conducting performance reviews, mentoring future leaders, and supporting development programs
- Utilize tools and reporting for decision-making, identifying opportunities and driving results through club-specific systems
- Ensure compliance and safety, enforcing policies and procedures including food safety, sanitation, and OSHA
- Support special initiatives and transitions, planning and executing merchandising changes and special projects
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as a retail store, supermarket, or warehouse operations manager
- Strong drive for results and solid work ethic
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to lead and motivate a large team
- Solid understanding of shrink controls, staff development, merchandising, customer service, problem solving, and conflict resolution
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities
- Knowledge of store operations, membership, front-line, gas station, tire bay, maintenance, receiving, and omni procedures
- Basic computer knowledge (MS Word, MS Excel, Email)
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Servsafe certification
- Forklift operator required
- Open shift availability
- At least 18 years of age
Qualifications
- High school diploma and/or college degree preferred
- 4+ years of experience as a retail store, supermarket, or warehouse operations manager
