About This Role

Join the Mobile Crisis Assessment Team at Westpark Springs to assess patients for mental health, substance abuse, and emotional disorders. Triage individuals based on safety risk, and coordinate care with the clinical team to ensure appropriate treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Receive inquiry calls and assist with scheduling face-to-face, phone, or tele-assessments
  • Triage individuals based on safety risk
  • Assess or ensure assessment by a qualified mental health professional
  • Screen for medical and behavioral emergency conditions
  • Perform comprehensive assessment and therapeutic care for patients seeking treatment for substance abuse, dual diagnosis, or psychiatric/emotional disorders
  • Coordinate with the clinical team/on-call physician to meet patient needs at the facility or community providers
  • Interpret treatment to patient and family to reduce obstacles to care acceptance and continuation
  • Complete administrative processes for admission and precertification with external payers
  • Facilitate response to service requests, including initial response, assessment, referral, level of care designation, admission, and follow-up
  • Conduct initial evaluation, initiate assessment, document patient symptomology, functioning, and needs, and provide information to MD for LOC determination
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills for patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers
  • Maintain knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork and processes and EMTALA
  • Complete preadmission and admission paperwork accurately and finalize precertification with insurance companies

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work or counseling
  • Current unencumbered clinical social work, counseling license, or per state of practice guidelines
  • Strong clinical assessment skills

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in social work or counseling
  • Prior experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility working with adult and geriatric patients preferred. Must have strong clinical assessment skills.
