About This Role

This Critical Care Night Advanced Practice Provider (APP) role is an integral member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team within the adult ICU, primarily managing critically ill adults and serving as a resource for intensive care interventions at UKHC. The APP will manage day-to-day patient care, from ICU admission to discharge and follow-up, while ensuring an environment of safe quality care through evidenced-based practice and education.

Responsibilities

  • Function within adult ICU areas as an integral member of a multidisciplinary health care team
  • Primarily manage critically ill adults
  • Serve as a resource throughout UKHC for intensive care interventions
  • Manage the day to day patient care from ICU to step down to discharge
  • Provide follow up care in the outpatient setting for the same patient population (in some instances)
  • Play a role in the admissions process, including ICU triage
  • Ensure an environment of safe quality care through evidenced based practice and education
  • Demonstrate advanced medical and nursing knowledge, clinical and technical competency, and sound clinical judgment
  • Maintain professionalism in interpersonal and general communication skills
  • Complete timely and compliant documentation
  • Take responsibility for ongoing professional development and competency validation

Requirements

  • MSN for Nurse Practitioners or BS for Physician Assistants
  • 1 year of related experience
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) certification OR Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C)
