Supervise and lead the Companion Animal Department operations to ensure efficient animal care, drive sales of aquatic pets, reptiles, birds, and small companion animals, and coach partners to deliver an excellent guest experience.
Responsibilities
- Utilize business acumen to measure, analyze, and diagnose business trends and implement improvement plans.
- Ensure the health and well-being of live animals by providing correct care and adhering to established Petco standards and veterinary protocol.
- Process register transactions to create a great guest experience.
- Implement and execute Companion Animal Operations and Aquatics, including training partners in animal care, maintenance, ordering, and regulatory compliance.
- Efficiently order live animals to maximize sales, margin, and inventory and analyze department inventory management data.
- Maintain operational standards and high presentation standards in aquatics and companion animal areas.
- Manage and document adoption animals.
- Lead, coach, and provide feedback to partners on quality service and task performance.
- Ensure proper partner scheduling to meet in-stock goals and guest service levels.
- Apply talent management skills in recruiting, hiring, training, and succession planning.
- Support the implementation and execution of Omni Channel initiatives through training and coaching partners.
- Act as Leader on Duty, supporting Pet Care Center execution, training, communication, and maintenance of company initiatives and safety practices.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years of management experience or equivalent
- Proficiency in communication, organizational, and computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Aptitude for strong guest service and ability to instruct others.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or its equivalent required; some college level business/management courses preferred.
- 1 or more years of management experience or the equivalent, with 2 or more years preferred.
