About This Role

This role is for an Anesthesiology Technician who will assist Anesthesiologists with the administration and monitoring of anesthesia in various settings, playing a crucial part in the perioperative care support team to minimize patient pain during medical procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation, maintenance, and setup of patient equipment and anesthesia delivery system before, during, and after anesthesia care
  • Set up and operate anesthesia equipment including fluid warmers, warm-air blankets, and rapid infuser devices
  • Set up supplies and assist in the placement of arterial lines, central lines, epidural catheters, airway devices, and Transesophageal Echo Monitoring
  • Assist with anesthetic induction of patients at the request of anesthesia staff
  • Obtain blood samples and perform laboratory tests, including QC checks on assigned testing devices
  • Assist anesthesia staff in the transportation of critically ill patients to and from operating rooms and other anesthetizing locations
  • Keep assigned workroom area neat and orderly, stocking supplies as they arrive
  • Stock anesthesia carts throughout shifts to ensure availability
  • Troubleshoot anesthesia equipment by performing diagnostic tests to restore service
  • Disassemble anesthesia machines, clean parts, and retrieve usable supplies

Requirements

  • High school graduate
  • Strong team player and supporter
  • Highly reliable and punctual attendance
  • Effective communication skills
  • Adept at conflict resolution
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic work environment
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while paying close attention to detail
  • Ability to engage in extended walking, standing, and lift/position supplies and equipment of up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to assist with positioning pediatric and adult patients
  • BLS or obtain within three (3) months of hire
  • ACLS or obtain within six (6) months of hire

Qualifications

  • High school graduate
  • Entry level position, with motivation to be trained for direct patient care support work in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Nice to Have

  • One (1) year or more experience as an Anesthesia Technician
  • Science based college coursework
  • One (1) year or more direct or indirect health care experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (Required)
