About This Role

This role is for an Institutional Accounting professional at BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager. The individual will be responsible for handling all aspects of accounting and reporting services for insurance clients, focusing on delivering BlackRock's services by supporting the monthly accounting close, leading client/department initiatives, and improving processes and controls.

Responsibilities

  • Handle all aspects of accounting and reporting services for clients
  • Support the monthly accounting close
  • Lead client/department initiatives
  • Improve processes and controls
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of BlackRock’s capabilities, products, and services for insurance companies
  • Respond to daily inquiries from clients requesting information
  • Complete daily reviews of exception management tool for accounting
  • Improve investment reporting for clients through preparation, review and distribution of various accounting packages and reporting schedules
  • Support business growth in partnership with other BlackRock teams
  • Complete quarterly/annual reconciliations and reporting in compliance with regulatory requirements (NAIC US Statutory, Solvency II, IFRS, GAAP)
  • Provide complete and accurate review of data to clients’ book of business
  • Assist in the continual improvement of investment reporting production and control processes
  • Conduct special projects and initiatives to improve service offering
  • Analyze accounting data and provide commentary regarding results, escalating to senior team members when required
  • Learn and promote the use of technology to better serve clients

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting or other related field
  • Understanding of investment accounting product mechanics including debt instruments, equities and derivatives
  • Minimum 3 years of industry experience in investments/markets and understanding of investment accounting
  • Knowledge of insurance companies, including regulatory and accounting constraints and standards
  • Continuous operational improvement and control enhancement mindset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with demonstrated expertise in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, conditional formatting, data validation, complex formulas)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting or other related field
  • Minimum 3 years of industry experience in investments/markets and understanding of investment accounting
