The CSPD Supervisor at Michigan Medicine oversees sterile instrument processing functions, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards. This role involves direct supervision of staff, coordination of workflow, and maintaining a healthy work environment.
Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of all shift work, including receiving, decontamination, cleaning, assembly, High-level Disinfection, and distribution of surgical or procedural scopes and medical devices.
- Assure adherence to all quality systems, checks and measures.
- Assist the manager with all hiring, evaluation, counseling, and termination of staff.
- Maintain safety standards to assure compliance with university, state and federal codes or regulations.
- Responsible for employee productivity, employee presence in the workplace, and employee adherence to break times.
- Provide disciplinary action when needed.
- Accurately maintain and approve employee time keeping systems and records in accordance with institutional and all regulatory requirements.
- Supervise staff in compliance with bargained for agreements and contracts.
- Coordinate workflow and services between departments.
- Assist in the resolution of operating problems.
Requirements
- Certification through CBSPD or IAHCSMM (CFER, CER, CSPDT, or CSCRT)
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- Recent experience as an endoscope reprocessor, CERD or CSPD professional
- 3-5 years of experience in a Scope reprocessing unit or Central Processing with scope reprocessing
- Extensive High-level Disinfection and sterilization experience
- Graduate of a formal sterile processing program
- Demonstrated competency in Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Ability to demonstrate University of Michigan Health Care customer service standards and behaviors
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Creative thinking, analytical, problem-solving and independent decision-making abilities
- Strong operational and clinical skills in Central Processing
Qualifications
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- 3-5 years of experience in a Scope reprocessing unit or Central Processing with scope reprocessing. Recent experience as an endoscope reprocessor, CERD, or CSPD professional.
Nice to Have
- 1-2 years supervisory experience
- Demonstrated competency in instrument tracking software systems
- Associate Degree or higher
